French Tradition: King cake...

The second week-end of January, we have a tradition in our family; It's to make a king cake (or 'galette des rois') it's usually to celebrate the Epiphany.
It's an easy recipe, delicious but not for those on diet!!
it's made of butter, ground almonds, and  ice sugar between two layers of flaky puff pastry.
I made it rectangular because it's easier for me but most of the Galettes in France are circular.
The fun thing is that we hide a little porcelain figurine in it and the person who finds it becomes the king or queen!...
Few people in France collect those figurines:

If you want the recipe, contact me (as it's a french recipe, it's in metric not imperial!)

For Christmas I asked this fabulous artist a custom order for my daughter;

She was thrilled and she loved it.

I highly recommend you to visit Minibytes shop;  She is really talented.

Now I'll let you admire what she did for me (well, for my daughter!):

Max even has a removable crown!

So much details and nice finish!

and at the last minute I asked Minibytes to make this cute little Ewok:
